Name: Soumak
Soumak is a comparatively rare type of Kilim, from the old town of Shemakja (Republic of Azerbaijan).
Soumak kilim rugs have a flat-woven style, and its threads which are usually embroidered are not cut off at the back. The wefts strands (serving a decorative role rather than the structural role of knotted carpets) are threaded through some warp strands and then looped back.
All Soumak have a geometric pattern with many tribal motifs all around. Usually, its patterns include small birds. Soumak's are great with contemporary, traditional and modern decors. Some have silk and are an excellent decorative choice due to its exceptional quality.
Carpet sizes are approximate and may not be exactly as above mentioned, a difference of few inches in the width and length might occur.
Looking the rug from different directions will affect how the colours are perceived.
